Food Warning: When Passions Collide

Food is a true passion of mine. Few things thrill me as much as working with individual elements to create a beautifully delicious masterpiece. I love going grocery shopping, strolling through farmers markets, and discovering new products. When at home on weekend mornings, I grab a cup of coffee and turn on the Food Network.

My passion for cooking leads to another passion…EATING! This would be an ideal pairing if I possessed the metabolism of a 16 year-old boy. Alas, I do not and my waistline is indicative of my passions run amok.

So, I am attending weekly Weight Watcher meetings with two co-workers and am ever on a quest for new recipes and products that taste decadent and fit into my meal plan.

Can you relate?

My First Auction

Saturday, I attended my first auction as a potential bidder.

Weeks ago, out of curiosity, I casually window shopped for promising treasures on our local auctioneer’s website. Suddenly, it caught my eye - a couch that would better compliment my living room than...

the borrowed earth tone one I was currently using. It looked to be in pretty good shape so I marked my calendar and made plans with my brother and sister-in-law to go.

I made sure I got to the auction early in order to look everything over before the bidding began. I looked at all the household antiques, vintage hats and hatpins, quilts, and books. I slowly made my way over to the furniture, not wanting to be disappointed by the reality of what the couch looked like. As soon as I saw it, I knew it was mine.

Allotting myself a set amount for the couch, I set off to bid on other items: winning a vintage hat and some old campaign buttons.

As the auctioneer got closer to MY couch, anticipation set in followed closely by a surge of adrenaline. Sold! Yahoo ~ $85 for a custom crafted couch that appears never to have been sat on.

I love It!

I see a lot of auctions in my future.

Hello and welcome to my blog, A Musing Potpourri! I’m so happy that you stopped by.

I’m La, well I wasn’t always. My parents named me Lori and I went by that name for 13 years, until my first nephew was born. He called me La-la and the name stuck. Now, I’m just La.

Living in Marion, Ohio I’m a single mother of a wonderful and handsome young man. Destined to be a late bloomer, I didn’t go to college until I was 40. Since graduating, I earned a professional designation in Risk Management and work as a risk analyst in workers’ compensation.

We’re all so busy these days; working full time, transporting kids to various activities, trying to keep up with daily chores, and making sure everyone is fed. We all need to find some time to rejuvenate, relax, and reflect on life’s adventures and misadventures. I hope you will join me as I take the bull by the horn and leap headlong into whatever life throws at me.

I look forward to our newfound friendship! La
